Anemometer 3D printing

Material

The WindNerd anemometer is designed using PETG filament, a very common plastic that is easy to print, even on basic 3D printers, while providing good resistance to outdoor conditions. The parts are specifically designed to be printed without supports or a raft; in fact, the standard settings provided by your slicer should work perfectly fine. If you experience adhesion issues, consider upgrading to a PEI textured plate, as PETG adheres very well to it.

Avoid PETG-HF, as parts printed with this filament lack the dimensional accuracy required for properly fitting the bearings.

STL files

All STL files for WindNerd products are released under Creative Commons and can also be downloaded from our Github repository. You are free to share and remix, even commercially, as long as you credit windnerd.net and use the same license.

Anemometer Body

The seven parts that make up the upper body are common to all kits. For clarity, the parts are numbered sequentially based on their position from top to bottom. For reference, printing all the parts takes 8 hours on a Bambulab A1 with default setting.

Base

At the base is either one of the mounts below if the sensor board is power wired, or a Sunbank

Select the version that matches your mast diameter, or adjust the dimensions in FreeCAD using the provided guide.
